The campaign to spread understanding on Right to Information act, in collaboration with Times of India.
The organizer was Mr. Ali, a software employee at Unisys.
I already knew how to apply RTI and have applied few times before. My RTI endeavours are mostly because of enthusiasm. I have no idea on getting information for change in the system.
But, the organizer , with his success stories, and balanced opinions showed me a path and gave me whats needed to be change the system. I.e stop complaining with friends and start complaining with the authorities. Its that simple.
I am one of those citizens who talk in length on how badly govt is working, and how it worsened the situation. Deep down, i knew, there something i should be doing for that, and i dont know what to do, so , like many, there is nothing to do.
More than the lecture on RTI, its the shared success stories between organizers and participants, gave me hope that, sooner or later, India shall raise.
The workshop made me realize that, to change the system, we don't have to dig up a 2G like scam. A simple act of getting the road you use repaired will inspire others to do the same. Until then, i dont even know that GHMC runs a portal to receive complaints from the citizens. Its the information like these, we do not know which makes ignorant to the solutions of everyday problems.
