Tea planters of assam are asking to make tea as national drink. Its a good move but the problem is, usually if govt attaches the word "national" to something, it will become controversial or it will diminish.
If you doubt what I have said just check history. Govt wanted to make hindi national language, it become controversial. Added the word "national" to hockey game and we know about indian hockey.
We know the fate of our national animal. Nobody checked the numbers of peacock....I am sure they are going down too.
Now assam planters are lobbying to make tea as national drink. As a hyderabadi, I love tea and I don't want it to fall. Why don't they make liquor national drink....if the jinx is still active then we will have less alcoholics driving on indian roads.

Au contraire, an immediate ban should be imposed on the use of tea so as to promote the same. We all know what happened with the liquor when faced with a similar situation :-D. And we we know what is going on with terrorism for krissake.
అసలు వాళ్ళ పిచ్చిగానీ national drink అంటే ఏమిటో!! జాతీయగీతంలాగా ప్రతిపార్టీ తరువాతా తప్పక తాగవలసిందా లేక జాతీయపక్షుల్లాగా కంజ్యూముజెయ్యకుండా (కోసుకు తినకుండా - ఈ contextలో తాగకుండా) పరిరక్షించుకోవలసిందా. ఈ విజ్ఞాపన వెనుక ఎవడో తలమాసిన రాజకీయనాకుడుండేవుంటాడు.
:) Why Assam tea? Why not Darjiling/ Nilgiri tea?
Why not coffee? Or Lassi?

వాళ్ళ డిమాండ్ వెనుక ఎవరైనా ఉండియుండొచ్చా లేదా అనే విషయాన్నిపక్కన పెడితే-ఓపక్క మాది వేరే దేశం (బోడోల్యాండ్) అంటున్నవాళ్ళు వారి ప్రాంతపు టీ్‌ని మనదేశపు డ్రింక్ చేయమన్నారంటే మనదేశ సార్వభౌమత్యాన్ని అంగీకరిస్తున్నట్లేకదా?
