ఎదురీత

కిశోర్ శాంతాబాయి కాళే ఆత్మకథ ఇది. ఇతనేమి ప్రముఖుడు కాదు. మహారాష్ట్ర లోని కొల్హాటి కులానికి చెందినవాడు ( అటు ఇటు గా కొల్హాటి వాళ్ళు అంటే భోగం వాళ్ళతో సమానం ) MBBS పూర్తీ చేసి , ఆ గ్రామానికే తిరిగి వచ్చి తన వారికి వైద్యం అందించిన డాక్టర్ కథ ఇది.

కొల్హాటి కుటుంబం లో ఆడదానిదే పూర్తీ బాధ్యత. సంపాదన , పని తనే చూసుకోవాలి, ఒక మగవాడు బయటకి వెళ్లి పని చెయ్యడం అనేది అవమానం గా భావించే కులం అది. అమ్మాయి రజస్వల అవ్వగానే తన కన్నేరికానికి బేరం కుదురుతుంది. అతనితోనే ఆ అమ్మాయి ఉండాలి , అతను వదిలేసేదాకా ! అలా వదిలివేయబడిన యువతీ తిరిగి అందరి ముందు నాట్యం చేయడం మొదలుపెడుతుంది, ఇంకో మగవాడు తనని కొనే దాకా అది సాగుతుంది. ఇది ఒక cycle. .

పుస్తక పరిచయం లో ఆ కులం గురించి బాగా వివరిస్తారు.

" కొల్హాటి కులం రాజస్థానీ సంచార తెగ. వాళ్ళు పశ్చిమ మహారాష్ట్ర కు వలస వచ్చారు, మొదట్లో గారడీ విద్యలను ప్రదర్శించి పొట్ట పోసుకునేవారు. తర్వాత ఆకర్షణీయమైన డాన్సింగ్ వృత్తిని ఎంచుకున్నారు . ఈ కులానికి చెందినా స్త్రీలని సంగీతం లోనో, నాట్యం లోనో శిక్షణ ఇచ్చి మగవాళ్ళను రంజింప చెయ్యడానికి బలవంతంగా నాట్య వృత్తిలోకి దించుతారు. కులం లోని మగవాళ్ళు ఆడవాళ్ళ సంపాదన మీద బతుకుతారు. తమ అక్క చెల్లె లని , కూతుళ్ళని దాన్సర్లుగా మారుస్తారు. కానే, భార్యల్ని మాత్రం కొల్హతి మగవాళ్ళు ఇల్లు కదలనివ్వరు. కొల్హతి మగవాళ్ళు తమ కులానికి చెందినా ఆడవాళ్ళను పెళ్ళాడటం చాలా అరుదు. సాధరణంగా ఊరూరు తిరుగుతూ వాళ్లకి ఇష్టం అయిన ఆడవాళ్ళను ఎత్తుకెళ్ళి 'మేలిని ' అనే సాధారణ ఉత్సవం ద్వారా ఆమెని కొల్హతి కులస్తురాలిని చేస్తారు. మగవాళ్ళు వాళ్ళకు ఒక చీరను బహుమతిగా ఇచ్చి పసుపుతో నలుగు పెడితే చాలు. ఆమె గర్భవతి అయ్యి బిడ్డను కన్నా తర్వాతే ఆమెను పెళ్ళాడతాడు , లేదంటే ఆమె పారిపోతుందేమో అన్న భయం

పెద్దమనిషి కాగానే 'కన్నెరికం ' కోసం వాళ్ళని అమ్మేస్తారు. వాళ్ళకు కడుపు వచ్చిన తర్వాత ఆ మగవాళ్ళు వదిలేస్తారు . అందుకనే ఎక్కువ మంది కొల్హాటి పిల్లలు తమ తల్లి పేరు పెట్టుకుంటారు. అక్రమ సంతానం అని తెలియజేసే పేర్లతో బడిలో తోటివాళ్ళ అవమానాలు తట్టుకోలేక బడి మానేసే పరిస్థితి "

కాని సమాజం లో వస్తున్న మార్పులని తట్టుకోలేని కొల్హాటి కులస్తులలో కొందమంది మగవాళ్ళు, పని చెయ్యకుండా ఇంట్లోని ఆడవాళ్ళ చేత వ్యభిచారం చేయించడం మొదలు పెడతారు  ( మగవాడు పనిచేయ్యకూడదు అన్న సంప్రదాయాన్ని పాటించారు)

అప్పటి సామజిక పరిస్తితుల గురించి  బాగా వివరాలు ఉన్నాయి ఈ పుస్తకం లో ...



చివరగా పుస్తకం వెనకాల డాక్టర్ కిశోర్ ని ప్రశంసిస్తూ , రిజర్వేషన్ పేరుతో కాళే లాంటి వాళ్ళకి చదువు, హాస్టల్ సదుపాయాలు అందించిన ప్రభుత్వాన్ని కూడా కాస్త మేచ్చుకోడం నాకు బాగా నచ్చింది.

Argumentative Indian By Amartya Sen

I borrowed this book from a friend in 2007 and just yesterday I get to finish it. Dont get the idea that this book is all about argumentative techniques. In the first chapter Amartya Sen tried to prove that we Indians argue a lot with references from history. The whole argumentative nature of Indians is mostly confined to that chapter only.

Later he talked about gender discrimination in india, our indian culture and heritage, how we usually treat our past, about ancient Indian Astronomy, Diaspora, the way history was presented in schools, how British Empire tried to prove their Intellectual superiority ( Author was against James Mill through out the book, John Mill is the one who wrote extensively about India, without visiting India and without learning Sanskrit or any other Indian Language. ).

Then there is boring chapter on India-china relations in the ancient times. And an equally boring chapter dedicated to calenders. He kept on talking about why we have chosen Saka calender instead of kaliyuga calender.  And his views on pokhran nuclear tests are little weird.

His opinions on understanding people from other culture are really interesting. And his arguments supporting secularism in India is a must read to all who call indian secularism as pseudo-secularism.

Seems Amartya Sen is very much influenced by Tagore and Akbar, and their references appear all over the book.. He made me realize that Tagore is more than just another poet with Noble Prize and Akbar is a true liberal. And now i have new found respect for those two  There is chapter about Reasoning and philosophers who specialized in it.

Over all its a good book. But the targeted readers are not Indians. Its for the students of other counties who are reading Indian History and culture. 

Comparing Orkut, Facebook and Twitter

Orkut is more community based, its like joining a club of your interest, and start making friendship with like minded people.

Facebook is more like sitting in a cafe with my friends, where everybody has something to share, from copied quotations to personal views about something, you might like it or start a discussion about it.

Twitter is just like standing on a podium at cross roads and verbalizing thoughts with eyes closed. If people like your nonsense they will follow you, and if you hear your own nonsense, it means somebody retweeted you.

Dont blame sex alone.

Recently Govt. of Kerala drafted a bill which will enable the govt to put anyone in jail who has more than two kids. ( Link is here ) Many thought its a necessary step to tame the population growth. This new law might give us the impression that, sex is the root cause of population which is the whole point of  that IDEA's 3G ad campaign. It gives us the impression that, the population growth is due to unplanned pregnancies. Well, that is a reason, but  not the only reason.

Our population growth is not because people are horny and govt is not restricting them from having sex. The population bubble is a natural course for a country, and its merely the success story of Indian health Department.

When a country is poor, i.e the people of the country are poor and hardly making enough money to stay away from hunger, both the birth rate and death rate will be high. Its called the first stage of demography. When people can hardly eat, forget about health care and having labor in hospitals. Due to malnutrition and lack of vaccination  ( people are not educated enough to know the importance of vaccination), no body is sure, how long a child will survive without cursed by a deadly disease. To improve the probability of  having kids, couples tend to give birth to more children, and pray god that at least some of them survive. This can be seen in the pre-independence era of  India.

Once, the vaccinations are introduced and people earning more and started knowing the value of nutrition, the  high death rate will decline and due to old beliefs (Yes, humans have ideological inertia)  the birth rate remains the same. This is the time population growth rate will be very high. This is the second stage of demography, high birth rate and low death rate.

Once, people are sure that their children will survive, the birth rate will go down slowly.  This is called third stage, low birth rate and low death rate and the population finally stabilizes.

Its only one of theories of population growth. One theory estimated that there is direct relation between population and in which sector the country depends for finances. Like, a farm owner wont feel having more children as burden but treats them as assets, because when they grew up, he does not have to employ extra labor to work in his farm. It sounds good, but more children means , the land of the father is divided among more and each child will be poor than his father, leading poverty.

And also there is direct relation between , the age at which the woman gets married and number of kids. And also between educational qualification of parents to the number of their children ( we dont see a postgraduated couple having half a dozen kids in this generation ). Just compare the literacy rates and population growth rate in North Indian states and south Indian states.

The bottom line is, temptation towards sex is not only the reason for the population we have. If govt dictates how many kids its citizen can have, its just few steps behind becoming totalitarian. Next what? Will govt pair up couples based on DNA so that the offspring will be strong? Seems, congress didnt learn its lessons from the policies of sanjay gandhi in emergency period.

In the name of controlling population we cant force people to buy 3G phones or force them to watch more TV or drop a hydrogen bomb . It should be done by educating people on various aspects. Too much interference into private life of citizens is against liberalism. The one or none policy of China is leading them to have more old age people in coming years than workable population. When we want to compete with them, we should be wise enough to grasp lessons from their mistakes.

How dumb Congress party really is?

The frequent complaint about congress by congress-haters is , it always tries to please muslims for votes. But in a democracy any political party tries to get votes so that it can can gain power. To get to power, it needs to have  acceptance of majority of voters. Then each political party should try to take care of majority not minority. So it does not make any sense to me that congress party's muslim-pleasing attitude is part of its vote-bank politics to get power.

We cant make a rule of thumb saying, all hindus would vote for BJP as Hindutva is its agenda, and all non-Hindus would vote for congress. If thats the case, then BJP would never lose an election as 80% of  Indians belong to Hindu community. Then how come NDA is losing elections?

The bifurcation of Indians in terms of religion to decide who is majority or minority is creating this confusion. If someone wants to categorize indians based on religion, he/she must not forget those indians, who they say they belong to a particular religion for the sake of question, but dont really care about the religion. The   muslim men who shave, the muslim women who wont wear Burkha, the Hindu men who party on Xmas and wait for Ramadan to eat haleem, the Hindu Women who wont wear a bindi, the Christians who find church boring etc etc. I dont mean to say they are real secularists or atheists, when it comes to their children's marriage, most of them will preach about greatness of their religion. Its just they have learned to see religion as a personal thing, or its just they dont care much about the religion of the contestant. Its just that they think of this country as India not as Hindustan or enemy of pakistan and they dont of the urge to propagate religion. 

The way UPA dealt with Team-Anna proves their dumbness. But I dont think they are that dumb to grasp that they cant form govt at center or state with the minority votes.  

అవును , నేను పాత విల్లన్ లాంటి వాడినే !!

పాత విలన్ అనగానే , రంగురంగుల లైట్లు వెలుగుతున్న ఒక Den with sliding doors ఓనర్ , స్మర్గ్లింగ్ , గట్టిగా నవ్వడం,  హీరో చేతికి దొరకగానే వెంటనే చంపకుండా పెద్ద పెద్ద డైలాగులు  ఇస్తూ ఉండటం,  ఇలాంటి విల్లన్ కాదు.

అసలు ముసలితనం , చావు ని తప్పించుకోవాలని చూడటం, ప్రపంచాన్ని జయించాలి అనుకోడం , ఒక నిది సంపాదించాలి అనుకోడం , ఇలాంటి విల్లన్ అన్నమాట . అంటే ఒక Dorian  Gray, ఒక పాతాళభైరవి  మాంత్రికుడు ,  అంజి లో విలన్ , వాలి, భస్మాసురుడు ....ఓహ్ ఈ లిస్టు చాలా పెద్దది లెండి, అప్పట్లో అసలు చావుని తప్పించాలనుకోడం చాలా తప్పు అన్నట్టు చూపించేవారు.

ముసలితనం, దాని తర్వాత చావు ప్రతి జీవికి ఉండేవే కదా...చుట్టూ ఇంతమంది రోజు ముసలివరవడం, చావడం చూస్తున్నాం కాదా , కాబట్టి చావు వొద్దు అనుకోడం మూర్ఖత్వం , అమాయకత్వం ...అంటూ చెప్పే పెద్దమనుష్యులంతా, ముసలితనం దాచుకోడానికి జుట్టుకి రంగులు వేసి, ponds age miracle లాంటివి వాడుతూ , తొందరగా బకెట్ తన్నకుండా ఉండడం కోసం ఆరోగ్యంగా ఉండటం కోసం మంతెన సత్యనారాయణ రాజు గారి ప్రోగ్రామ్స్ చూస్తూ ఉండే రకాలు, అసలు వాళ్ల మాటలని పట్టించుకోక్కర్లె .

ఇక నిమిషానికి  పదిసార్లు ' ఈ పని చెయ్యలేక చస్తున్నా , ఆ పని చేయలేక చస్తున్నా ' అనే వాళ్ళని, ఏదో facebook  app లోనో , ఒక చెత్త వెబ్సైటు లోనో వాళ్ళు ఫలానా రోజు చస్తారు అని ఒక తేది చూసుకుని, అందరికి చూపించి , ఇంకా అంతకాలం బ్రతకాలా నేను అనే వాళ్ళు  ( ఇలాంటి వాళ్లకి వెంటనే ఒక కత్తి  ఇచ్చి ....go ahed అని చెప్పాలని ఉంటుంది నాకు ) ...ఇలాంటి నిరాశావాదులని కూడా లైట్ తీసుకోవచ్చు . 

చావుని చూసి భయపడటం అనేది ఇప్పటిది కాదు కదా ...యక్ష ప్రశ్నలలో ఒక ప్రశ్నకి సమాధానంగా ధర్మరాజు, రోజు చాలా మంది చావడం చూస్తున్న, మనుష్యులు చావుని accept చేయకపోడమే పెద్ద వింత అంటాడు . సాహిత్యం లో కూడా మరణం గురించి మంచి ప్రస్తావనే ఉంటుంది . కాని ఎందుకు మరణాన్ని ఆమోదిన్చాలేకపోతున్నాం?

ఇక్కడ సమస్య,  ముసలితనం వచ్చాక ముడతలు , మరణం తర్వాత స్వర్గమా నరకమా అని కాదు, ఇక్కడ సమస్య జీవితం అందంగా ఉండటం. ఏది ఏమయినా చివరకి ఆనందం ఉంటుంది అనే నమ్మకం ఉండటం, అసలు చుట్టూ ఉన్న ప్రపంచం ని పూర్తిగా తెలుసుకోడానికే చాలా సమయం పట్టడం, ఈ ఆనందం ఎప్పటికీ ఉండాలి అనుకోడం ...అది సమస్య. 

ఇప్పుడు ఈ సమస్యకి పరిష్కారం, కాలానికి ముసలితనానికి ఉన్న సంబంధాన్ని చేరిపివేయడం.  అనగా గడుస్తున్న సంవత్సరాలకి, వయస్సుకి ఉన్న సంబంధం. వయస్సుని తమ ఆధీనం లోకి తెచ్చుకోవాలి అనుకున్నవారు  "fountain of youth" వెనకాల పడ్డారు , సమయాన్ని ఆధీనం లోకి తెచ్చుకుని  ఒకవేళ ముసలితనం వచ్చేసినా గతం లోకి ప్రయాణం చేసి , అలా ఎప్పటికి యవ్వనం లో ఉండిపోడం అనుకునేవారు ,, టైం మెషిన్ అన్నారు. మొదటి పరిష్కారం mythology లో బాగా కనిపిస్తుంది, రెండవిది sci-fiction లో పేరు తెచ్చుకుంది. 

ఇలా అనుకునే వారి పాయింట్ ఏంటంటే "The world is a fine place and worth  fighting for and I hate very much to leave it."      

జీవితం లో ఎన్ని దెబ్బలు తగిలినా...అది ఇంకా అందంగానే , hopeful గానే ఉంటె, అదీ సమస్య. ఇప్పుడు ఇదంతా ఎందుకు రాశాను అంటే , మొన్ననే నా పుట్టిన రోజు అయ్యింది... చెప్పగా సంవత్సరాలకి , వయస్సుకి సంబంధం లేకుండా ఉంటె బాగుండేది అని, అది నా బాధ. 

ఇదే  విషయం మీద రెండేళ్ళ క్రితం నా బ్లాగు లోనే గోల్లుమన్నాను ... ఆ  గోల  ఇక్కడ  ఉంది   

The Count of Monte Cristo

Wanted to read this book by Alexander Dumas  since I watched the movie with the same name. Like any other 'movie out of a book' even this movie deviated from the actual novel a lot. The theme of the book is having revenge who ruined hero's life for selfish reasons , but the way in which protagonist escaped from the prison by taking place of a dead guy was used in  many movies and books.  It was used in 'prisoner of birth' by Jeffry Archor, used by Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of Caribbean Dead mans chest and even by our Chiranjeevi in the movie called Veta.  

If you had not watched the movie then I suggest watch the movie first and then read the book. Initially both have the same plot, but they have different story lines. So even you watch the movie before the reading the book, you cant miss the suspense.

Though its about revenge, the author ends by saying that, all the human wisdom is contained in the words "wait and hope".

Note: If you are having trouble remembering the characters just like me, then use wikipedia. The article has all the family trees which are present in the novel. Very helpful. 

Sphere by Michael Crichton

Initially it looks like a pure science fiction novel for which the author is well known ( some other books by the author are congo, Jurassic park and the last world) , with aliens and spaceships  but  after few pages, it turns into a psychological thriller.

We all know about wizards and witches , who can manifest or create objects according to their wish. Here, wishing is the act of a conscience mind. What if we have given the power to create or change objects based on just thoughts of either conscience or sub-conscience mind. Like, you are dreaming about flowers and  your room is filled with flowers. But what if you are dreaming about lions? What if we dont even know that we have such power. And what if people around us have the same power? and their dreams also becoming reality?

The book is a real page-turner and its my first book i read completely on my mobile :D.

ఒక ఆక్సిడెంట్ , దాని సెటిల్మెంట్ !

నిన్న నా ఫ్రండ్ college-mate ఒక ఆక్సిడెంట్ చేశాడుట. కాస్త మందు మీదే ఉన్నాడు, బస్సు ని తప్పిస్తూ ఆటోని గుద్దేసాడు. ఎవరు చనిపోలేదు, కాకపోతే చిన్న చిన్న దెబ్బలు తగిలాయి, వాళ్ళని అక్కడే ఉన్న హాస్పిటల్ లో జాయిన్ చేసారు.

ఇప్పుడు అసలు స్టొరీ ....ఆక్సిడెంట్ జరిగిన చోటికి నిముషాల్లో ఇద్దరు కానిస్టేబుల్స్ వచ్చారు, ఒక పత్రికా  విలేఖరి కూడా వచ్చాడు, రాగానే మందు బాటిల్ ని కార్ మీద పెట్టి ఒక ఫోటో తీసేసాడు , వెంటనే దగ్గర్లో ఉన్న పోలీసు స్టేషన్ కి బయలుదేరారు , పోలీసు స్టేషన్ లోకి వెళ్ళకుండా , దాని ముందు ఉన్న మైదానం లో ఒక "settlement specialist" దగ్గరికి వెళ్లారు. ఆటో వాడికి ఆరు వేలు,  కానిస్టేబుల్స్ కి చెరో అయిదు వందలు, విలేఖరికి పదిహేను వందలు...జరుగుతున్న హడావిడి చూసి వచ్చేసిన హెడ్ కానిస్టేబుల్ కి ఇంకో అయిదు వందలు, ఇంకో విలేఖరికి ( ఇతను పత్రికకి కాప్షన్ కూడా రెడీ చేసేసాడుట ) మరో పదిహేను వందలు, మన settlement specialist కి మొత్తం settlement లో సగం.

నా కష్టాలకి మూల కారణం , మీ  పెద్దబ్బాయి గారికి , తల్లిదండ్రుల మీద ఉన్న భక్తీ తో మొదలయింది. తమ్ముడి మీద గెలిచిన ఆనందం ఎంత ఉంటె మటుకు మరీ అన్ని ఉండ్రాళ్ళు తింటారా చెప్పండి? పోనీ తిన్నాడు , అంత తిన్నాకా అరగడానికి ఒక కిళ్ళి వేసుకుని ఒక గోలి సోడా తాగి పడుకోకుండా, మీకు దండం పెట్టడానికి వచ్చాడు , పోనీ భుక్తాయాసం లో తల్లి దండ్రుల మీద భక్తీ ఎక్కువయ్యి ఉంటుంది అనుకుందాం, ఒక నమస్కారం పెట్టి , పొగుడుతూ పద్యం పాడకుండా , సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారం చేయడం అవసరమా ? ఎన్నో చేసాం, ఇది చెయ్యలేమా అని అనుకుని  ప్రయత్నించి ఉంటాడు అనుకుందాం, కాళ్ళు చేతులు భూమికి ఒకేసారి భూమికి ఆన్చలేక , పార్కు లో see-saw లాగ ఊగుతున్నప్పుడన్నా  ఆ ప్రయత్నాన్ని విరమించుకోవాలి కదా , నేను విఘ్నాలకి అధిపతిని , దీనికే ప్రయత్నం విరమిస్తే ఎలా అని ప్రయత్నిస్తూనే ఉండి  ఉంటాడు , పోనీ మీరన్నా అయన కష్టం గ్రహించి , పోన్లే నాయనా , అరిగాక రేపు వచ్చి దండం పెడుడువులే, అని దీవించి పంపొచ్చు కదా , అలా చూస్తూ కూర్చున్నారు, వూగి వూగి ఆయన పొట్ట పగిలిపోతే , చంద్రుడు నవ్వడం వల్లే అనుకున్నారు , పోనీ కొడుకు పడుతున్న  బాధలు చూసి ఆ సమయం లో అలా అనుకున్నారు అనుకోవచ్చు, అలా అనుకుంటే, పెడితే గిడితే శాపం చంద్రుడికి పెట్టాలి కాని, చంద్రుడ్ని చూసే వారికి  ఎందుకు ?

మానవులు అంటే, ఏమి శక్తులు లేని వాళ్ళు కాబట్టి, ఏమి చెయ్యలేరు అని మీ ఫీలింగ్, కాని మానవుల దగ్గర, ప్లాస్టిక్ బాగులు ఇంకా బోలెడు చెత్తా ఉన్నాయి , అవి అన్ని నాలో వేసేసి, నన్ను కంపు గొట్టేలా చేసి, తర్వాతా మీ కుమార రత్నం విగ్రహాలు వేసి కసి తీర్చుకుంటున్నారు. మీ శాపాలు, వాళ్ల కోపాల మధ్యలో నాలో కాలుష్యం ఎంత పెరిగింది అంటే,  హాలాహలం ని తట్టుకున్న మీ ఆయనకీ కూడా , నా లోని నీరు తాగితే అనారోగ్యం వస్తుంది,  నా దగ్గరకి వచ్చి వాసన పీలిస్తే,  మీ పెద్దబ్బాయి కి ఉన్న తొండం అనబడే పెద్ద ముక్కు దెబ్బతింటుంది, మీ చిన్నాబ్బాయి గారికున్న నెమలి ఈకలు ఊడి పోతాయి , అంత కాలుష్యం ఉంది నాలో.

మానవులు మంచి కోపంగా ఉన్నారు మీ అబ్బాయి మీద, ఎవ్వరు చెప్పినా వినడం లేదు. నాలో వేసి ఆయనని అవమానించకండి అని  ఆఖరికి హై కోర్టు చెప్పినా వినడం లేదు, కాస్త దూరంగా నాగార్జునా సాగర్ లో వెయ్యొచ్చు కాని, అక్కడి దాకా వెళ్ళే ఖర్చులతో ఇంకాస్త మందు తాగోచ్చని వాళ్ళ ఆలోచన.

To hang, or not to hang, that is the question

Yesterday tamilnadu house passed a resolution for the reconsideration of capital punishment for the Rajiv Gandhi killers to the president. This kicked off yet another metaphysical, philosophical and humanitarian debate on death sentence.

One of the argument against death penalty is in the style of arundhati roy i.e death sentence is based on eye-for-an-eye principle, which is inhumane, uncivilized, un-tv-like etc etc. Their argument is, death penalty is just another name to murder, because in both the cases taking some ones life is involved. Its like saying there is no difference between rape and making love, because in both the cases sex is involved !

Punishment is not just hurting someone for joy or revenge, it sends a warning signal to others besides teaching the guilty a lesson. A punishment is not given only considering the graveness of crime, but also considering the motivation which caused it. Manu sharma was given lifeterm in jessica lal case, because he killed her on spur of the moment, it was impulsive, he had no intention to kill her before,  but he knew he was killing her while killing her. In bhopal disaster, those seven employees and chairman dont even know that their mistakes are going to kill thousands. They didn't plan to kill them, they dont know that they are killing them, but their mistakes lead to heavy human loss, they deserve punishment for their grave mistakes, so they received two years sentence.

But the case with planned murders is different. How could we let the people who made plans to kill other to roam on the streets? These are not like scammers and robbers who are dangerous to society so should be kept out of society i.e prison, which serves punishment to them and give time to them to think over what they have done, and give rest to society from them for a while.One job of punishment is to scare others not to do the crime, and what could scare people more than death?

In Rajiv Gandhi murder case, already the death penalty of Nalini was reduced to lifesentence, and now there is a resolution asking president of india to consider the death penalty to others once again. 

In this context I would like quote the tweet of Omar abdullah last night "If J&K assembly had passed a resolution similar to the Tamil Nadu one for Afzal Guru would the reaction have been as muted? I think not."

After team-anna got the support of bollywood, i guess kiran bedi is trying to enter it. Just watch this video.

Some how, her little show on ramlila maidan reminds me of Paresh ravel in Hera pheri.

Coming to serious things, earlier she gave a slogan "anna is india and india is anna" .That slogan shows the culmination of anna-cult which is spreading.

After that, she gave a little speech in ramlila promising the people there that when janlokpal is passed and implimented, a tollfree number will be assigned to janlokpal, like 101 for fire department, and did her little acting thing elaborating that.  And anna-cult started calling 101 to make complaints against corruption, and asking questions about lokpal bill.

And today she asked all the Indians not to vote. And this is the heights of insanity we can expect from a farmer civil servant. One should go against democracy just because his draft is not accepted, just like a sane person wont blow his house because its dirty, he will clean it.

It would be helpful for team-anna, if she continues waving the indian flag at ramlila instead of talking nonsense.

ఒక 74 సంవత్సరాల వ్యక్తి , 10 రోజులుగా ఏమి తినకుండా ఉండి కూడా లేచి నిలబడి, ఉపన్యాసాలు ఇస్తూ , భారత జెండాని ఊపుతూ, భజన లో చప్పట్లు కొడుతూ ఉంటె, అన్నా హజారే ఆరోగ్యాన్ని ఎవరు ప్రశంసించకుండా , లోక్పాల్ జన్ లోక్పాల్ అని మాత్రమె మాట్లాడుతున్నారు , ఇది చాలా బాధాకరం.

అసలు  అన్నా శారీరక ఆరోగ్యం కోసం ఏం చేసారో కనుక్కోవాలి ఇంతకాలం, ఎక్కువగా రోగాలు వచ్చే వర్షాకాలం లో, ఒకళ్ళు కూడా ప్రశాంతంగా విశ్రాంతి తీసుకోనివ్వకుండా 10 రోజులుగా నిరాహార దేక్ష చేస్తుంటే, అయన మొహం కాస్తంత అలసట తప్ప ఏమి జరగలేదు.

ఈ  లోక్పాల్ సంగతి తేలాక , బాబా రామ్దేవ్ , అన్నా ఆరోగ్య రహస్యం యోగా చెయ్యడమే అని , ఇక యోగా సభల్లో , అన్నా హజారే ఫోటోలు పెట్టి ప్రచారం చేసుకుంటాడెమో?

If anna wins....

If anna wins, don't think that the victory of him is limited to jan lokpal bill. If he wins we don't have to vote again and indian govt can abolish elections and channel that money to do something else.

If anna wins, its obvious that the representatives we have elected to make policies are powerless before him and his mass support ( here the definition of mass includes the bollywood celebrities who evade incometax and the intellectuals who forward text msgs saying " vote for anna and forward this sms to 15 ppl you wil get 518 rs talk time " and facebookers with "govt asked 25 crore missed calls to pass lokpal bill so call this number" updates) .

Anna - the virtuous and wise man, would write govt policies and parliament would pass those bills on the day anna asks them to pass. That's it, we have anna hazare with masses support, we don't need to elect MP's, we don't need an opposition who scrutinize govt , we don't need a parliament secretary which pulls up data and statistics for the policy making, we can remove the articles regarding parliamentary proceedings in the constitution of india as all the proceedings will be directed by anna hazare. And we can forget about editorials, op-eds, public debates etc etc which usually makes public opinion, as the team of anna knows the best.

And don't worry about his health. He is 74yr old, but can run after 4 days of fasting and can shout, can give a long speech even after nine days of fasting. He has a strong body and live at least 20 more years. After that? We have the team anna !!

Anna and his team, are trying to give an impression that parliament and citizens are two different entities. No, its we who elected parliament, its the citizens of this nation who gave the throne to UPA as many of us satisfied with UPA1. Its indians who voted rajiv gandhi and defeated him after 5 years. Its the people of this nation who gave power to BJP and took it away again and probably UPA wont be voted again. My point is is parliament is not a alien body which is ruling us, the parliament represents us, its our representatives sitting over there,

I have supported anna for introduction of lokpal bill, my opinions are against inclusion of PMO under lokpal but i still supported him. But as he started demanding the passage of bill in two weeks of time without through the parliamentary committee and without debate, forced me to think again. I support team anna as long as it works as a pressure group. But not with this kind of black mailing.

So what next, some old guy from RSS sits on a fast to death to make a law to kickout all the non-hindus, the lakhs of swayam sevaks will walk down the streets and give slogans in favor of the bill, or some old lady sits on fast for 90% reservation in parliament, should the govt give in again?

Its democracy idiots

Yesterday after team anna got arrested many people with twitter and facebook accounts or with a mike and camera before them started crying that the govt action is undemocratic.

If bunch of people who are not elected by citizens of the nation and started making laws, its definitely can't be called democracy. its roughly called oligarchy. Rule by bunch who thinks they are virtuous to rule.

Team anna will be called a pressure group in terms of political science i.e. a bunch of people who puts pressure on govt to make certain laws like greenpeace.

Team anna was doing great till they started thinking themselves as opposition party to govt. putting pressure for lokpal bill was a welcome move. When govt didn't include prime ministers office under the purview of lokpal, their pressure to include PM is understandable. But bickering for petty issues like location of protest should not be welcomed. Its not like millions of people are pouring in to see him watching. if he wants to fast for the sake of bill he can do it anywhere and media would tag along and the whole nation will watch it while playing with remote control.

Please don't think I am defending congress. I guess as sonia off the helm, amul baby took the hasty decision to send him to tihaar. They could have house arrested him instead of sending him all the way to tihaar in the day, only to appease him to get him out of it at night where he is sulking. Well, congress is always known to dig its own grave like it did with JPC.

The word tihaar triggers images of hardcore criminals and recently arrested corrupt political celebrities like spectrum raja and kalmadi, everybody started protesting including tax evading bollywood people.

People trying make policies, people pressuring govt, people bashing up govt left and right...india has all the attributes of democracy :D

ఆగస్టు 15 వచ్చింది....రోజా కూడా వచ్చింది..

భారతీయులు, స్వాతంత్రదినోత్సవం రోజు కచ్చితంగా చేసే పని, ఒక దేశభక్తి మూవీ చూడటం. నేను పుట్టి, నాకు ఊహ తెలిసి, అసలు స్వాతంత్రదినోత్సవం అంటే ఏంటో అర్థం అయ్యే టైం నుంచి , ప్రతీ సారీ టీవీ లో రోజా మూవీ వస్తుంది. ఈ రోజు జనగణమన విన్నా ..వినకపోయినా....నాగమణి నాగమణి పాట వినకతప్పట్లేదు....అరవిందస్వామి చేసుకున్న పుణ్యం వల్ల మనమంతా ఈ రోజు మూడు రంగుల జెండాని , అరవిందస్వామి మొహాన్ని కచ్చితంగా చూస్తాం .

ఆ  తర్వాత నా ఖర్మకాలి కృష్ణవంశి ఖడ్గం మూవీ వచ్చింది...అది కూడా దేశభక్తి సినిమా కిందే పరిగణిస్తున్నారు. వెకిలి చేష్టలతో కిం శర్మ, చెక్క మొహం వేసుకున్న శ్రీకాంత్, అబ్బో పండగే పండగ ...ఇక హిందీ చానల్స్ లో చూస్తె ...బోర్డర్ లాంటి మూవీస్ వస్తుంటాయి...

ఇక్కడ అసలు పాయింట్ ఏంటంటే.....పాకిస్తాన్ విషయం లేని దేశభక్తి మూవీ ఏదన్నా ఉందా అని ? దేశభక్తి అంటే శత్రుదేశాన్ని దుమ్మెత్తి పోయ్యడమేనా?

పోనీ ఇది కాదు అంటే....భారతదేశం ఎంత గొప్పది...మన భారతీయ సంస్కృతీ సంప్రదాయాలు ఎంత ఉన్నతమైనవి ...అంటూ మొదలు పెడితే...అలా అలా సాగి ..అది ఇస్లాం ని తిట్టడం తో ముగుస్తుంది. ఇది RSS theme ....నీకు దేశభక్తి ఉందంటే మిగితా మతాలని తిట్టాలి అంటాడు...ఇక్కడ కూడా పక్కనోల్లని తిట్టడం ఉంటుంది.

ఇక  గాంధీ, నెహ్రు, భగత్ సింగ్ , నేతాజీ etc etc ...ఈ పేర్లన్నీ ఉపన్యాసాలకే పరిమితమయ్యాయి.....the legend of bhagat singh లాంటి మూవీస్ వచ్చినా....అవి తెల్లవాడు మనల్ని ఎలా దోచుకున్నాడో అంటూ మొదలయ్యి...గాంధీ చాలా చెడ్డవాడు అని conclude చెయ్యడం తో ముగుస్తుంది.

అంటే తిట్టుకోడం లేకుండా దేశభక్తి అనే అనుభూతిని అనుభవించే అవకాశం లేదా ?

No whistles in Gujarat.

So far two IPS officers had to face the heat only because they spoke to nanawati commission on post-godhra riots. Chidambaram says central govt might intervene in this issue, but i dont think he is sure about it.

In the context of lokpal bill , anti-corruption etc etc this raises a serious question of protection of whistle blowers.  If a police officer is chargesheeted because he supplied evidences to the SIT and nanawathi commission , which are against Modi, based on a technicality which says he should not have done that because its sensitive information and he must be punished because he didnt take the permission of gujarat govt before supplying them? Then think about an ordinary citizen or some employee in govt who tries to blow the whistle against corruption in his department.

We have seen a lot of movies , where a goon murders somebody in open, and nobody files a case against him and nobody cooperates with the police officer who is enthusiastic to push the goon behind the bars. Then we would listen to the speech of police officer targeting the fear in public to come out and the flaws in the system.

Its almost the same scene now we are watching in reality, if a police officer is punishable because he talked to nanawati commission ( Please not that, the punishment is not because he lied or tampered the evidence), then what about the ordinary citizen , whose family is murdered in the riots and seeking justice. 

Tiger, hockey and assam tea

Tea planters of assam are asking to make tea as national drink. Its a good move but the problem is,   usually if govt attaches the word "national" to something, it will become controversial or it will diminish.

If you doubt what I have said just check history. Govt wanted to make hindi national language, it become controversial. Added the word "national" to hockey game and we know about indian hockey.

We know the fate of our national animal. Nobody checked the numbers of peacock....I am sure they are going down too.

Now assam planters are lobbying to make tea as national drink. As a hyderabadi, I love tea and I don't want it to fall. Why don't they make liquor national drink....if the jinx is still active then we will have less alcoholics driving on indian roads.

On Jan lokpal !!

Finally yesterday the govt introduced lokpal bill in parliament ONE MORE TIME. But this was not interesting, its the jan lokpal bill which is interesting.  Jan lokpal bill got much popularity among people, its like the one nuclear missile which can eradicate corruption from India, Team-anna promoted it well.

After reading Jan lokpal bill version 2.3 (Yes, there are versions to it, 2.3 is latest),  I have come across few interesting points in it.

6.(w) To prepare an appropriate reward scheme to encourage complaints from within and outside the government to report acts and evidence of corruption.

Provided that the total value of such reward shall not exceed 10% of the value of the loss recovered or loss prevented.

I personally liked this one.

7.4 A Lokpal bench may punish a public servant with imprisonment up to 6 months or with fine or both, if he fails to comply with its order for ensuring their compliance

 6.(d) to ensure that the public grievances covered by this Act are redressed in a time bound manner

6.(p) To ensure due compliance of its orders by imposing penalties on persons failing to comply with its orders as provided under this Act.

Sounds interesting ...is not it?

7.5 If during the course of investigation into a complaint, the Lokpal feels that continuance of a government servant in that position could adversely affect the course of investigations or that the said government servant is likely to destroy or tamper with the evidence or influence the witnesses or is likely to continue with corruption, the Lokpal may issue appropriate directions including transfer of that government servant from that position.

Its required.

7 (8) If during any investigation under this act, the Lokpal is satisfied that any preventive action is necessary in public interest to prevent the ongoing incidence of corruption, it may make any recommendation to the public authority concerned to stay the implementation or enforcement of any decision or take any such action as is recommended by the Lokpal. The public authority shall either comply with the recommendation of the Lokpal or reject the same within 15 days of the recommendation thereof. In the event of rejection of its recommendation, the Lokpal may approach the appropriate High Court for seeking appropriate directions to be given to the public authority.

Messing up with administrative procedures, but sounds interesting. And the question is, if you threaten someone with legal procedures if he didnot comply with what you said, can we call it a "recommendation" ? You dont punish a public authority because it didnt follow your "recommendations" .
 

20.4 The Chief Justices of High Courts will constitute such number of special benches in respective High Courts to hear cases under this Act, to ensure that an appeal in any case is decided as expeditiously as possible and not later than six months.

20.5 The judges of Special Courts and the appellate benches set up by High Courts to hear cases under this Act will deal only with cases under this Act

Yes, as we dont have any pending cases in courts, and many judges are just passing time with mobile games. So we can afford to have dedicated judges who will not deal with any other cases :P

23 (3) If the beneficiary of an offense is a business entity, in addition to the other punishments provided for under this Act and under the Prevention of Corruption Act, a fine of up to five times the loss caused to the public shall be recovered from the accused and the recovery may be made from the assets of the business entity and from the personal assets of its Managing Directors, if the assets of the accused person are inadequate.

Is it really feasible?

23.(4) If any company or any of its officer or Director is convicted for any offence under Prevention of Corruption Act, that company and all companies promoted by any of that company's promoters shall be blacklisted and be ineligible for undertaking any government work or contract in future.

So, if one director is corrupt, the whole company with its employees has to jump in river musi.

25. (14) There shall be at least one officer of the Lokpal in each district to receive grievances who shall be called an Appellate Grievance Officer. However, in such places where there is more concentration of central government offices, there shall be more Appellate Grievance Officers as may be required.

25. (15) A social audit of each Appellate Grievance Officer shall take place every six months, in which he shall present himself before the public, present the data related to his functioning, respond to public queries and incorporate suggestions from public in his functioning. The public hearing shall be attended by a senior officer from Lokpal.

Well, people are not that active to participate in an event like social audit. Check the social audit details of MNREGA or panchayati budget.

27. (3) The Special Court would also determ[ine whether apart from the above the accused person by his corrupt acts has also caused any loss to the exchequer or any other person and determine the amount of loss so caused. The Court shall make an order levying a fine on the accused persons so convicted for the recovery of the entire loss which his corrupt acts have caused and shall also apportion this amount among the various convicted accused persons to be recovered from them as fines.

Is there anyway Raja could be fined with 1.76lac cr ? can he pay it?

27. (4) During the course of investigation if the Investigating Officer finds any property or asset which appears to have been acquired by the corrupt acts of an accused person who is being investigated, it shall make an order of attachment of those assets so that they are available for confiscation at the time of the conviction of such accused persons. In case the accused person is ultimately acquitted, these attached assets and properties will be restored to him.

30. (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, if someone makes any complaint under this Act, which lacks any basis or evidence and is held by Lokpal to be meant only to harass certain authorities, Lokpal may impose such fines on that complainant as it deems fit, but the total fine in any one case shall not exceed Rs one lakh.

Provided that no fine can be imposed without giving a reasonable opportunity of being heard to the complaintant.

Provided further that merely because a case could not be proved under this Act after investigation shall not be held against a complainant for the purposes of this section.

Provided that if such complaint is against the staff or officers of Lokpal, Lokpal may sentence the complainant to three months of simple imprisonment in addition to fine.

(2) Such fines shall be recoverable as dues under Land Revenue Act.

(3) A complaint or allegation once made under this Act shall not be allowed to be withdrawn.

So, its likely that we end up paying 1 lakh as fine , because its not proved. We are struck with many murder cases because of loss of evidence. In corruption cases ,there wont be DNA's, cant use hounds.

I am not against the jan lokpal bill, but i think its more idealistic in nature than practicable. The bill was drafted with the idea that corruption is the only problem of india and nothing else is not really a problem. The poverty, lack of courts, infrastructure, low cop per citezens ratio, these are not the problems, only corruption is the problem..... The bill heavily requires huge man power to carry its work in a "time bound manner". But the problem is, as it might be a good solution to corruption problem of india, it could create problems to other areas of politics.

The definition of corruption from the point of jan lokpal seems to be at a level of 2G scam and CWG scams. But the definition of corruption for a common man is more with local govt officials. With the police, with revenue officer, at registration office, at RTA, at the govt hospital, while taking up a govt job, while getting scholarship, while receiving govt benefits  ...etc etc. We read about 2G scam in news papers, we were shaken by the figure 1.76 lakh crore. But the 2G scam didnot hit us directly...our call rates dropping, SMS is getting cheaper and cheaper. The same applies to CWG scam or stamp papers scam or bofors. I dont  mean to say, we should not be bothered about those, but the focus should be more on the corruption which a conman man faces in day to day life.

How could we prove the corruption charges against an officer who is collecting money from the SC/ST students to give them the scholarships? What about the corrupt police who changed the evidence in favor of a party? What about the staff at NIMS hospital who demand money to push stretcher?  Corruption at this level is hard to prove, if the same bill which is supposed to protect me from corruption, punishes me because it was not proven, then whats the point of the bill? Do you think its fair to ask a constable to do a work in a timebound manner (and threatening him with legal consequences )where police are already understaffed?

With the promises made in the bill,  it requires an army of officials in a country of 1.6 billion population. I am not sure if 0.25% of total indian revenue is sufficient to keep up with the promises made.

Jairam ramesh strikes again !!

Its hardly one fortnight in the new ministry, but  he is proving that the decision to move him from MoEF to Rural development is right. He asked to CAG to audit all major rural development programs like MNREGA.

He proved to be a man who follow book of rules while stopping major projects which might disturb the environment surrounding them. Lets see if he can move things or he is good at only stopping things.

I hope he would work with same vigor he has before, while dealing with aadhaar card program and corruption in other rural development programs.

I think its time to change the question!!

"WHY SEPARATE TELANGANA ?".... this is the question since 1969. Its been 40 years the first time telangana question was raised. And in the last 10yrs the movement got lot of speed and mass support, but the question has not changed.

The supporters of telangana would give some statistical figures on funds allocated to this region,  development of the region, number of CM's from this region, mulki laws, gentlemen agreement, GO 610 etc etc. Supporters of united andhra would give some answer....the discussion will turn into an argument and then it gets heated up and finally both parties will start abusing each other. The story does not end there, they will pick a new fight because the language turned abusive....you scolded me....you abused me first.....you started it...no you did...not me , its you ... and everybody forgets about the question and concentrates more on the argument. If anybody wants live example for this, just watch any telugu news channel, just read few telugu blogs, we can understand that, many blogs concentrate on derogating the other party and in the comments we can see character-assassinations.

I am little tired of this mediocrity, as the separate telangana being opposed by many people for many years, now lets have a different question "Why not telangana?". What a small businessman in vijayawada, a farmer in amalapuram and a steel plant employee in vizag got to lose if the state is separated. Basically how the state separation going affect the common man in a negative way?

As Indians we are allowed to buy or sell property all over india (except J&K), so the argument that the people who have land in hyderabad will lose that land is baseless. Even if the state is separated, people of both the sides can keep their plots or flats on the other side.

Lack of infrastructure in the new capital could be a problem to the people of seemandhra. But we can find a solution for it, like having a common capital till seemandhra decides on the location of capital and done with building infrastructure in it..or some workable solution like that.

The people who will be at loss if state is separated are realtor-politicians who do business all over A.P, because they cant influence the location of govt projects on the other side.

And the people who will have more head-ache if the state is separated are the members of krishna water tribunal. I am guessing they are praying god against telangana :D. Water sharing is always a messy either between states or nations.

I cant think of anybody else who will be at loss if we have separate telangna. Of course we are going to lose that "one language , one state" thing, but if language could be a good reason to separate states then whats wrong with political economy?

అనంత పద్మనాభస్వామి నిధుల గురించి తాళపత్రాలలో లభించిన వివరాలు, సేకరించింది ఎవరో తెలుసా ? మన TV9.  వీళ్ళు తాళపత్ర గ్రంధాలు బాగా వెతికి అసలు ట్రావెన్కోర్ రాజులకి అన్ని నిధులు ఎలా వచ్చాయో కనుగోన్నారట.


ట్రావెన్కోర్ రాజులు ఆ నిధులన్నీ ప్రజల మీద పన్నులు వేసి సంపాదిన్చారట, ఇంకా  యుద్ధాలు చేసి సంపాదిన్చారట....అంటే మంత్రదండంతో  సంపాదించారని మనం అనుకుంటాము అని కావొచ్చు. అసలు ట్రావెన్కోర్ రాజులు ప్రతీదాని మీద పన్నులు వసూలు చేసే వాళ్ళంట ...ఆఖరికి గడ్డం మీద కూడా అంట , అయితే భారత దేశం లో జిజియ లాంటి పన్నులు ముస్లిం రాజులు మాత్రమె కాదన్నమాట వాడుకున్నది .

కాని  అసలు కామెడీ అది కాదు, తాళపత్ర గ్రంధాలు తాళపత్ర గ్రంధాలు అని అరిచి వెనకాల ట్రావెన్కోర్ రాజుల మీద ఇంగ్లీష్ లో రాసిన ఒక textbook లో మొదటి పేజి, ఇంకా "ది హిందూ", Indian express చూపించాడు, అంటే మన పూర్వీకులు తాళపత్ర గ్రంధాలు ఇంగ్లీష్ లో రాసారనా లేక ది హిందూ ని తాళపత్ర గ్రంధాలలో కలపోచ్చనా...అంతలా అరిచినపుడు కనీసం ఒక తాళపత్రమైనా చూపిస్తే బాగుండేదేమో ..... ఈ మొత్తం ప్రోగ్రాం కి background music చంద్రముఖి లోది ....సావగోట్టాడు ఈ ప్రోగ్రాం తో నన్ను  . అందుకే remote మీద అధికారం వదులుకోకూడదు. 

చలం పుస్తకాలని ఎలా అర్థం చేసుకోవాలంటే..

మీలో ఎవరికైనా తెలిస్తే కాస్త చెప్పండి..నేను కూడా ఆ కోణం లోంచి చదివి అర్థం చేసుకోడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తాను. ఈ ప్రశ్నకి సమాధానం నేను ఎప్పటినుంచో వెతుకుతున్నాను కాని నాకు సరిగ్గా అర్థం కాలేదు.

 మహాప్రస్థానం కి చలం ముందు మాట చదివి నేను చలం పట్ల చాలా impress అయ్యాను. ఆ తర్వాత చలం పుస్తకాల గురించి నాకు మొదట వచ్చిన review "బూతు పుస్తకాలు" అని. ఆ చెప్పిన వ్యక్తీ పుస్తకాల అభిరుచి మీద నాకు పెద్దగా నమ్మకం లేకపోవడం వల్ల నేను పెద్దగా పట్టించుకోలేదు.

మొదటగా మైదానం చదివాను.  మొదట్లో వింతగా అనిపించినా పుస్తకం చివరకి వచ్చేసరికి ....ప్రాణాలు ఇచ్చెంతాలా ఒకరి కన్నా ఎక్కువ మందిని ప్రేమించోచ్చు అన్న విషయం చెప్పదలచుకున్నాడు అనిపించింది. నాకా point మీద కొన్ని సందేహాలు ఉన్నప్పటికీ... బాగానే ఉంది అనుకున్నాను.

తర్వాత  శశిరేఖ చదివాను. ప్రేమ పట్ల confusion లో ఉన్న అమ్మాయి జీవితం మీద కథ అనిపించింది. ఒక వ్యక్తీ ఆదరిస్తున్నా, శ్రుంగారం కోసం ఆరాధిస్తున్నా ప్రేమ అనుకునే అమ్మాయి కథ అనిపించింది. మంచి పుస్తకం అన్న ఫీలింగ్ వచ్చింది.

బ్రాహ్మణీకం  మూడో పుస్తకం. మొత్తం ఎలా ఉన్నా , ఎవరమ్మా మీరు అన్న ప్రశ్నకి మేము బ్రాహ్మలం అని తను సమాధానం ఇవ్వడం, బ్రాహ్మణుల మీద ఎప్పటినుంచో ఉన్న కోపం ఒక్కసారిగా బయటకి వచ్చి ఆ ముసలాడు మోసం చేయడం బాగా ఆలోచింపజేశాయి. బాగుంది అనుకున్న చివర్లో ..

 కాని  అప్పటికే చలం పుస్తకాల మీద ఒక అభిప్రాయం ఏర్పడింది. చలం తన పుస్తకాల ద్వారా love , lust ఒక్కటే అని నిరూపించడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తున్నాడు అనిపించింది. సమాజపు కట్టుబాట్లకి , పెళ్ళికి వ్యతిరేకి అనిపించింది. బ్రాహ్మణీకం, మైదానం ద్వారా చలం మతానికి, కులానికి తనకి ఉన్న వ్యతిరేకత చాటాడు అనిపించింది. కాకపోతే చలం పుస్తాకలలో హీరోయిన్ ఎప్పుడు ముసలి అవ్వదు, కథ మొత్తం తను యవ్వనం లో ఉన్నప్పుడే జరుగుతుంది. బ్రాహ్మణీకం లో తప్ప ఎక్కడా హీరోయిన్ కి పిల్లలు పుట్టరు. తను ప్రేమించిన వ్యక్తీ ఇంకో స్త్రీ తో ప్రేమలో ఉన్నా పెద్దగా బాధపడదు. ఒకళ్ళని ఒకళ్ళు అర్థం చేసుకోడం, ప్రేమించిన వ్యక్త్రి గురించి care తీసుకోడం, ఆ వ్యక్తీ తో రోజువారి జీవితాన్ని పంచుకోడం లాంటివి చలం definition of love లో అసలు లేవు. Love is nothing but lust అని చెప్పడానికి బాగా ట్రై చేస్తాడు అనిపించింది.

తర్వాత  అరుణ చదివాను. story of a playgirl అనిపించింది. ఆ పుస్తకం లో హీరోయిన్ పెళ్లి అయ్యాక తన పాత ప్రియుడ్ని కలవడానికి వస్తు వస్తు ట్రైన్ లో మరొక వ్యక్తిని ప్రేమలోకి దింపుతుంది. ఏంటో వెరైటీ పుస్తకంఅనిపించింది. ఈ పుస్తకం లో హీరోయిన్ చేసే పనులన్నీ ...ఒక మగవాడు చేసి ఉంటె వాడ్ని స్త్రీలోలుడు, చెడ్డవాడు , నీచుడు, ఆడవాళ్ళని ఒక వస్తువులా వాడుకుంటాడు అని అంటారు. మరి అదే పని ఒక స్త్రీ మగవాళ్ళతో చేస్తే మంచి పని అయిపోతుందా ? అలాంటి స్త్రీని "పురుష లోలి" అనొచ్చేమో ...  

ఇంతలో  కొంతమంది రంగనాయకమ్మఅభిమానులు పరిచయం అయ్యారు. వాళ్ళు చలం పుస్తకాలు స్త్రీవాదం ని support చేస్తాయని, అది అభ్యుదయ సాహిత్యం అన్నారు. ఇదెక్కడి స్త్రీవాదమో నాకర్థం కాలేదు. స్త్రీవాదం అంటే నేను అప్పటిదాకా సమాన హక్కుల కోసం పోరాటమో, స్త్రీలని తక్కువ చేసి చూడటాన్ని వ్యతిరెంకించడం లాంటివి అనుకున్న. స్త్రీవాదం అంటే proposing open relationships అని తెలియదు. మధ్య మధ్య కొన్ని వాక్యాలు తప్ప మొత్తం కథ లో స్త్రీ స్వేచ్చ అంటే commitment లేకుండా ఆ సమయానికి ఎవరు నచ్చితే వాళ్ళని ప్రేమించడం అని ఉంటుంది. మరి వీళ్ళందరికీ orange మూవీ కూడా నచ్చిందేమో తెలియదు.

ఈ విషయం మీద ఇంకొంచం దీర్ఘంగా ఆలోచించగా అసలు చలం మీద సందేహాలు వచ్చాయి. అసలు ఈ పుస్తకాలు అన్ని వెటకారంగా రాసినవేమో అనిపించింది. అంటే మీ ప్రియురాళ్ళు, భార్యలు ఇలా తిరిగితే ఎలా ఉంటుందో అర్థం అయింది కదా....కాబట్టి ముందు మీరు ఇలా చెడు తిరుగుళ్ళు ఆపండి అని మగవాళ్ళకి సందేశం ఇవ్వాలని అనుకున్నాడేమో అనిపించింది.

చలం మ్యూజింగ్స్  గురించి చాలా విన్నాను. అది చదవాలని ఉంది. కాని అది కూడా ఇలా మిగతా చలం పుస్తకాల లాగే ఉందేమో అని సందేహం. అసలు ముందు చలం సాహిత్యం స్త్రీవాద సాహిత్యం ఎలా అయ్యిందో అర్థం చేసుకుని కాని మిగతా చలం పుస్తకాలని చదవొద్దు అనుకొన్నా ...ఎవరికినా చెబితే ...తెలుసుకుని ఆనందిస్తాను.

Solution to Singur --- From Bihar

One issue that struck with India since independence is land acquisition. The problem is more visible in recent years and singur like incidents made everybody think about it. And finally we got the solution from Bihar, I bet nobody expected it from this state :)

Usually govt pics up the land for SEZ and allocates them to companies. And our bureaucrats and politicians got the final word regarding these matters. All the formers who lost their land might not be happy with the acquisition.

The new scheme of Bihar,  which is "aao bihar" i.e come to Bihar, instead of grabbing and giving land , now govt maintains a real estate website like 99acres.com and let the companies and farmers deal with each other. No police, no act, no dharna, no firing , no deaths  ......its good. And its already working too, they have sold a 700 acres of land for thermal power plant.

We cant say this scheme is flawless but its innovative.

20 ఏళ్లుగా చూస్తూనే ఉన్నా ......ఏమి మార్పు లేదు .

నేను  మూడో క్లాసు లో ఉండగా ఒక వెధవ నా చేతిలో ఒక చిన్న కాగితం ముక్క పెట్టి పోయాడు....దాన్లో  మాటర్ ఏంటంటే .... నీకు కాళికామాత మాత మంచి చెయ్యాలంటే ఇలాంటివే ఇంకో 18 చిట్టీలు చేసి అందరికి పంపు , లేకపోతే నీకు చదువు రాదు అని .... ఎందుకొచ్చిన గోడవలె అని రాయడం మొదలు పెట్టా ...... మొదటిది రాయడం అవ్వగానే భక్తీ పోయింది....రెండోది రాసే సరికి భయం పోయింది....మూడోది రాస్తూ ఉండగా ముందు boredom , ఆ తర్వాత బద్ద్దకం ఆ వెంటనే నాస్తికత్వం నాలో ప్రవేశించాయి ..... ఈ తంతు ఇక్కడితో ఆగలేదు, ఇంత పెద్దయ్యాక orkut లో scraps పంపకపోతే నాశనం అయిపోతావ్ అని వస్తునాయి .. ఇలాంటివే మరికొన్ని ..

Facebook లోను, SMS లోను కొత్తగా ఒక మెసేజ్ forward అవుతోంది. లోక్పాల్ బిల్ ని ఆమోదించడానికి ప్రభుత్వం 25 కోట్ల మంది భారతీయుల అంగీకారం ఉండాలని condition పెట్టింది అని , అంగీకారం తెల్పదల్చుకున్న వాళ్ళు ఒక నెంబర్ కి (02261550789) missedcall ఇస్తేచాలు అని .... నిజానికి ప్రభుత్వం అలా ఏమి కోరలేదు....అది ఒక NGO వారు చేపట్టిన అభిప్రాయ సేకరణ లాంటిది. లోక్ పాల్ , భారతదేశం లో లంచగొండితనం , అన్న హజారే , ఇలా కొన్ని keywords చదవగానే మెసేజ్ ని forward చేసేస్తారు. ఎవరినా మీకు ఇలా forward చేసారు అంటే ఆ వ్యక్తి sports page, page3 and movie page తప్ప వార్తా పత్రికలో ఇంకేమి చదివే అలవాటు లేదని మనం ఒక అభిప్రాయం ఎర్పరుకోవచ్చు ....

పెట్రోల ధర పెరిగిన ప్రతీ సారీ, ఒక set of forwarded emails వస్తూ ఉంటాయి. నేపాల్ లో పెట్రోల్ 26 రూపాయలు, పాకిస్తాన్ లో 30 రూపాయలు అంటూ ఇంకా కొన్ని దేశాలలో పెట్రోల్ ధరలు ఇచ్చేసి ....మన అవినీతి భారత ప్రభుత్వం , కొన్ని ప్రైవేటు సంస్థలు లాభాలు ఆర్జించడం కోసం ఇలా అధిక ధరలు సామాన్య మానవుడు/ భారతీయుడు మీదకి తోసేస్తోంది అని ......అసలు ఆ మెయిల్ లో ఇచ్చిన ఆయా దేశాల లో పెట్రోల్ ధరలు correct అవునా కాదా మనకి తెలియదు....భారత దేశం రూపాయి విలువ, నేపాల్ రూపాయి విలువ వేరు వేరు అన్న విషయం గుర్తుకురాదు, ప్రతి దేశం లో పెట్రోల్ వనరులు ఉంటాయని, ఆ వనరులు ఆ దేశం కి సరిపోకపోతేనే ఇంకో దేశం నుంచి దిగుమతి చేసుకుంటాయని , అలా ఎక్కువ పెట్రోల్ దుగుమతి చేసుకుంటే పెట్రోల్ ధర (రాయితీ పోగా ) పెరుగుతుందని అర్థం కాదు. భారతదేశం లో పెట్రోల్ retail లో ప్రభుత్వ రంగ సంస్థలు అయిన HP , Indian Oil, BP లదే ఆధిపత్యం అని (Reliance share చాలా తక్కువ ...అది కూడా కేవలం గ్యాస్ మాత్రమే అమ్ముతోంది reliance petrol bunks లో ) , ఇవి ప్రైవేట్ సంస్థలు కావు అన్న విషయం కూడా తెలియదు.   పెట్రోల్ ధర పెంపు , సామాన్యుడి మీద భారం, అవినీతి భారత ప్రభుత్వం, ప్రైవేటు సంస్థల లాభార్జన  లాంటి keywords కనబడగానే అందరికి ఆ మెయిల్ forward చేసి, ఒక గొప్ప నిజాన్ని కనుగోన్నవాడిలా  పక్క వాడితో మన రాజకీయ నాయకులు ఎంత దుర్మార్గులో మొదలు పెడతాడు. 

lunch for Rs 5, dinner for Rs 7 , free electricity etc etc బోలెడు ఇచ్చి ....ఇవన్ని ఎవరికో తెలుసా ...నెలకి 80 వేలు జీతం ఉన్న మన MP's కి అని ఒక sms మీకు కూడా వచ్చిందా..... లంచ్ సంగతి డిన్నర్ సంగతి తెలియదు కాని , member of parliament జీతం మటుకు నెలకి 50వేలు ... 80 వేలు కాదు ... 
 
ఇపుడు Gtalk లో ప్రశాంతంగా ఉంది కాని, అంతకు ముందు yahoo messenger లో రోజు " ఫలానా పిల్లాడికి గుండెల్లో రంద్రం ఉంది ... వైద్యానికి డబ్బులు లేవు , ఈ మెసేజ్ ఎంతమందికి forward చేస్తే యాహూ అన్ని పైసలు ఆ పిల్లవాడికి చేరవేస్తుంది , మానవత్వం తో ఈ మెసేజ్ అందరికి పంపు " అని బాగా వచ్చేవి....మెయిల్స్ కూడా బాగా వచ్చేవి....ఇలాంటి వాటికి వెక్కిరింతగా ...ఒక చిన్నపిల్ల స్కూల్ లో పెన్సిల్ పారేసుకుంది అని , పెన్సిల్ లేకుండా ఇంటికి వెళితే వాళ్ల అమ్మ బాగా కొడుతుంది అని , ఈ మెసేజ్ ఫార్వర్డ్ చేస్తే వచ్చిన డబ్బులతో ఆ పిల్ల పెన్సిల్ కొనుక్కుని దెబ్బలు తప్పించుకోవచ్చని  ఒక మెసేజ్ వచ్చింది.....

ఈ మధ్య ఇంకో గోల మొదలయింది....ఈ SMS/scrap next 10 min ఇంకో పది మందికి పంపకపోతే నువ్వు ప్రేమించినవారు నీకు దక్కకుండా పోతారు , పంపిస్తే ఈ ఆదివారం లోగా ఒక మంచి వార్త వింటావు అని ... ఇక్కడ keyword ప్రేమించినవాళ్ళు దక్కకపోవడం .

ఎప్పటికి ఆగుతాయి ఇలాంటివి ?

 

And whats the point.?

Whats the point of opposing something when we know that no harm will be done if it happens? Its pure waste of time. And thats what congress party is doing.  Dont you think so? 

What happened  to the Bofors case JPC, nothing. Then why congress party opposed JPC for 2G scam that hard? And 127cr are wasted because congress wants to oppose it, inviting the anger of people all over.

Lokpal bill was struck in the parliament since 1979. When the bill is introduced in the parliament there will be a committee created to review it and the the next general elections will fall upon the country and the bill will be lapsed. Its been happening for more than 30years. Its going to happen again. Now does it matters if the PM comes under the purview of lokpal or not? NO. Then whats the point of opposing it that hard? 

Probably congress party is thinking that its standing on its point firmly like it did with the nuclear bill. The nuclear bill will have considerable affect on future energy plans of india. It has to take a stand, it did it and i appreciate it. But i dont understand its actions regarding JPC and inclusion of PM in lokpal draft. Its just a draft. Does not matter how much the draft is influenced by the civil society ...at the end its the politicians in while khaddar cloths who will decide the fate of the bill. So whats the point of standing against it? I could not understand that. 

No Dream sharing please !

Right from the release of "Inception" , all my friends and relatives who ever watched that movie bugged me to watch it. Finally ....yesterday i have seen it. Well, i was little disappointed, may be because my expectations were too high based on the reviews I have received.

Hoping to see another Matrix kind of movie, i got this one. First problem is ...i could not identify in which category the movie fits in. Obviously there is no device in the world which enables us to share our dreams or enter into a "dream space" where people connected with that device can create, share and manipulate the dream of others, so we can put the movie in the science fiction category. But unlike Matrix or Jurassic park , nothing about the device is explained. Not even a  two minute scene like in Kate and Leopold.

. According to movie...if you are in deep sleep and dreaming, and if someone kicks you in  water, a tsunami will happen in your dream!!  And if you are falling while asleep, acceleration due to gravity becomes zero in your dream, indicating a direct relation between nature laws in real and dream worlds. So all indians who fall asleep in the city buses or cabs must experience series of  earthquakes because of bumpy roads or we should experience them if someone shook to wake us !!

Mostly i am a lucid dreamer, so i cant talk about 'dream with in a dream' .  Many of my friends both lost and admired this. Dreaming with in a dreaming and dreaming in the dream of dream too. Not only audience, in fact one of the character in the movie also got confused about this concept and ends her life finally.

Anyway its just a movie, not a project report....its only for entertainment. I have seen a different movie :D  and i was little entertained. But the thought of someone entering my dreams and manipulating is pretty scary...so i am planning to set up a  board which says "DREAM TRESPASSERS WILL BE PUNISHED"  in my dreams.

Boring Dan Brown

After reading "Da vinci code", I have completed all the works of Dan brown except the last one i.e The lost symbol in which I have lost interest after reading half of it.

In fact I have started reading English literature after reading Da vinci code. That book was very gripping from the beginning , before even  realizing i was reading my first English novel, I finished it. So naturally my expectations are very high about his books. But it seems, he is concentrating more on the background story without touching the base story line.

In the last four novels the story line is almost same. An old guy will die at the starting of the novel, our hero comes to picture, soon heroin will join him, usually she will be a blood-relative the dead man , when the protagonist is struggling to solve mysteries ,  an influential person will come to help him, we start to think that the new guy is a good guy, but at the end it will be revealed that the new character is the antagonist and he is responsible for the death of the old guy in the beginning . Its the same story line in all the books so far.

Except the deception point, rest of all novels are related to cryptography. So far Dan Brown wrote 5 novels, for 3 novels, the character Robert Longdon is the hero, who is a claustrophobic symbolist  with a Mickey mouse wrist watch.

I have finished half of the "The lost symbol", and it is just going like Da vinci code. The symbols, icons, dead man in the beginning, 'ancient secrets', brotherhood, rituals, pyramids, robert langdon running away from police and villains, private planes...... i give up,  i am bored. 

Well, i never ended talking about Dan brown without mentioning Angles and Daemons. Its the bulkiest and my fav of all his books. Its not so exciting and intriguing as Da vinci code but, the opposition between science and religion is beautifully explained.

Dan brown got lot of fame after Da vinci code, that does not mean that his next novel also should be like it. I wish he wont bore me with the next book. 

Elite insanity !

Last year when the JPC issue was going on , after reading editorials in few eminent newspapers of India, few questions raised in mind about insanity levels of  "Elites" who wrote them. Now the history repeats again.

Few articles are inferring that, there is a parallel Govt in India. You are mistaken if you think those columnists are referring to Naxals or Mafia. They are referring people at jantar mantar fighting for lok pal bill. According to these Elites, the Anna Hazare gang is being unreasonable regarding lokpal bill and acting like a parallel Govt. First of all the author did not comprehend the functions of Govt. If he is aware of it, he would not compare a pressure group with Govt. And I am not sure if he knows about the history of lokpal bill. And clearly he must be thinking that democracy means conducting elections and nothing else.

"The anna hazare gang" can be called pressure group who are putting pressure on the Govt to pass a bill. These people are not taxing us and are not running courts. Calling them a parallel govt shows the immaturity of the author in the field of politics.

Lokpal bill is not the idea of Ramdev baba or anna hazare .... since 1977 its trying to get passed in the loksabha but struck in the various committees. Anna hazare is just trying to get it passed because last year  largest scams in the history of India were unearthed. I think its time to prepare weapons against corruption.

If you study the development of political theory....except in case of marxism we understand that each development is answering one question "What if the men who are running the nation are bad at that job?" Gone were the days where people believed that kings are sent from the heaven and people of that bloodline could not go wrong. We moved from monarchy to republic. Even in republic, what if those bunch of people are corrupt. So we made a system of polity where people are given the opportunity to change the present govt if they are not satisfied with it. This would keep ruling party on toes , because opposition will try to prove that this govt bad for people and use it in the coming elections. But sometimes we cant wait for next elections to repair damage. An urgent actions is required. Then people will raise their voice again. This is what happened with JP ...and Anna hazare is trying to do the same. Calling this action anti-govt is stupidity.

I was irritated when these elites abused opposition party for hijacking parliament session last December. Their point is 127cr were being wasted because of adamant nature of opposition. So should we not question govt when there is 1.7 lakh cr scam because it would waste 127 cr ? Very old but appropriate proverb is "Penny wise and pound foolish".

Why reputed newspapers allow these naive people to publish their madness? Because they are celebrities ? That newbie of  politics who wrote those articles was CEO of a delhi based marketing consultancy. He worries that protests like these would defame indian image and might reduce FDI inflow.... hehe. Ok i agree , that his personal opinion, but what about the insanity levels of the editor of that newspaper?

వాడు -వీడు .... బాల -విశాల్....అరిచారు భయపెట్టారు

గత రెండు సంవత్సరాలుగా సినిమాలు చూడటం బాగా తగ్గిపోయింది....చూసిన సినిమాలు అంటే మర్యాద రామన్న , అలా మొదలయింది . రెండు బాగానే నచ్చాయి .

సరే  ఎక్షామ్ ఎలాగు అయిపొయింది అని.... పిలిస్తే వీడు వాడు సినిమాకి వెళ్ళా...మొదటి రోజే అది కూడా. అప్పట్లో శివ పుత్రుడు మూవీ చూసి బాల కి మంచి ఫ్యాన్ ని అయ్యా..... కాని ఈ మూవీ కి వెళ్లడం మాత్రం తిరుగున్న ఫ్యాన్ లో వేలు పెట్టడం లాంటిది అని తెలిసింది.

మూవీ  స్టార్ట్ అయింది ....పార్కింగ్ ఇబ్బందుల వల్ల కాస్త లేట్ గానే వెళ్ళాం. ఒక పెద్ద జమీందారు అని బిల్డ్ అప్ ఇచ్చి ....ఒక ముసలాయన షష్టిపూర్తి మహోత్సవాల సీన్ మొదలయింది. విశాల్ చీర కట్టుకుని ఆడ వేషం లో గెంతడం మొదలెట్టాడు. గేన్తుతున్నాడు ....గేన్తుతున్నాడు ....గెంతుతూనే ఉన్నాడు...ఆ తీన్ మార్ మ్యూజిక్ అసలు ఆగటం లేదు ... కాసేపటికి గెంతడం ఆపేసాడు. ఎందుకంటే చుట్టూ ఉన్న ఆడవాళ్ళూ పట్టుకుని కొట్టడం మొదలుపెట్టారు కాబట్టి. వెంటనే ఒక పోలీసు వచ్చి విశాల్ ఏదో పెద్ద గజ దొంగ అన్నట్టు బిల్డ్అప్ ఇచ్చి ...జడ్జి గారింట్లో తాళాలు పోవడం వల్ల బీరువా తలుపులు తీయడానికి విశాల్ ని తీసుకెళ్తాడు. అక్కడ నుంచి విశాల్ ఒక పనికిమాలిన దొంగ ...ఒక్క దొంగతనం చేయడం కూడా చేతాకడు అని తర్వాత 10 నిమిషాల్లో establish చేస్తారు. ఇప్పుడు విశాల్ సవితి తమ్ముడి కారెక్టర్ ఎంటర్ అవుతుంది. అదే ఆర్య . ఆర్య మంచి పనిమంతుడిన దొంగ ...తర్వాత సీన్ లో మళ్ళి తీన్ మార్ డాన్స్ స్టార్ట్ అవుతుంది. ఈ సారి ఆర్య , తన తల్లి ...ఇద్దరు కలిసి డాన్స్ చేస్తారు. అదొక 5 నిమిషాలు సాగింది.

కాసేపటికి  అర్థం అయ్యేది ఏంటంటే...అదంతా దొంగల వూరని...మొదటి సీన్ లో వచ్చిన జమిందారు ఆ వూరికి మంచి చేద్దాం అనుకున్తున్నాడని...కాని అతని ఆస్తి అంటా తమ్ముడు మోసం చేసి కొట్టేయడం వల్ల ఆ దొంగలందరికి పురాణం చదివి వినిపిస్తూ .... ఆ వూరికి వచ్చే విదేశీయులకి గైడ్ గా ఉంటూ ఉంటాడు.

ఇప్పటి  దాకా కొన్నికామెడీ సీన్లు ఉన్నాయి. అన్నింట్లోనూ మంచిమంచి తిట్లు ఉన్నాయి (మంచి కామెడీ తిట్లు అనగానే జంధ్యాల స్టైల్ కామెడీ తిట్లు అనుకునేరు ....బూతులు బాగా ఉన్నాయి )

మధ్యలో ఆ జమీన్దారుని ఒక పోలీసు అవమానిస్తాడు ( అంటే నాలుగు కుళ్ళు జోకులు వేస్తాడు) ...దాంతో జమీందారు ఒక గుడ్లో కొలనులో 108 సార్లు మునగడం మొదలుపెడతాడు ....అలా మునుగుతూ లేస్తూ ..ఈ అన్నదమ్ములతో చెప్పుకుని బాధపడతాడు. వెంటనే వీళ్ళిద్దరూ వెళ్లి పోలీసు సెక్యూరిటీ తో ఉన్న ఒక గంధపు చెక్కల లారీ ని దొంగతనం చేస్తారు ( దొంగతనం జరగడం వల్ల ఆ పోలీసుని సస్పెండ్ చేస్తారు కదా .....అందుకు ) ...ఆ దొంగతనం జరిగేటప్పుడు ఆర్య దొరికిపోతాడు...విశాల్ మటుకు పోలీసులని బాగా కొట్టేసి లారీ తీసుకుని పారిపోతాడు ...మళ్ళి ఆ లారీ విషయం ఎక్కడా రాదు . డైరెక్టర్ మర్చిపోయాడు.

తర్వాత  సూర్య వస్తాడు సీన్ లోకి ....అదేదో NGO program కి అని ....అక్కడ జమీందారు విశాల్ నటనా పటిమని చూడమని సూర్యని అడుగుతాడు. వెంటనే విశాల్ మెల్ల కన్నుతో నవరసాలు పండించడం మొదలుపెడతాడు. చాలా బాగా చేసాడని డైరెక్టర్ అనుకుని ఉంటాడు..కానీ చెత్తలా చేసాడు...ఇంత చెత్తలా నటించడం కూడా జరుగుతుందా అని సూర్య బోలెడు ఆశ్చర్యాన్ని చూపిస్తాడు. ఇంకాసేపు నటిస్తే ఏమౌతుందో అని .....ఆపమని కాళ్ళు పట్టుకుని అడుగుదమనుకుని....అది పెద్ద సభ అని గుర్తొచ్చి కౌగలించుకుని ....నువ్వు చాలా బాగా చేసావని చెప్పేసి అక్కడి నుంచి పరిగెత్తుకుంటూ వెళ్ళిపోతాడు.
 ఇలా ఇంకొన్ని చెత్త సీన్స్ తర్వాత....కథ అటు ఇటు కాసేపు తిరుగుతుంది.. ఇంతలో అన్నదమ్ములు ఇద్దరికీ చెరో గర్ల్ ఫ్రెండ్ దొరుకుతుంది. ఆర్య కి నచ్చిన అమ్మాయి జమీందారు మోసం చేసిన అతని కూతురు...కొన్ని సెంటిమెంట్ సీన్స్...తర్వాత జమీందారు వేలి ముద్రలు వేసి  ( అప్పటిదాకా విదేశీయులతో అనర్గళంగా ఆంగ్లంలో మాట్లాడిన జమీందారు) ఆస్టి గొడవలకి ఫుల్ స్టాప్ పెడతాడు.  ఇంకొన్ని బాత్రూం జోకులు, కొన్ని కుళ్ళు జోకులు తర్వాత కధ శివపుత్రుడు స్టైల్ లో సాగుతుంది. అంటే ఒక భయనకరమైన విలన్ ....ఆ విలన్ హీరో కి ఇష్టమైన వాళ్ళని చాలా క్రూరంగా చంపేస్తాడు ...అప్పుడు హీరో పిచ్చి అరుపులు అరుచుకుంటూ వెళ్తూ వెళ్లి విలన్ ని చంపేస్తాడు.

ఇక్కడ హీరోలు ఇద్దరు...అన్నదమ్ములు....వాళ్ళకి ఇష్టమైన వ్యక్తి జమీందారు ....అతన్ని బట్టలు లేకుండా చంపేసి ( కళ్ళు పేలిపోయాయి నావి ) ...అతని ఒక లుంగి చుట్టి ఒక చెట్టుకి వురేస్తారు . ఆర్య వచ్చి అరిచి అరిచి పడిపోతాడు...విశాల్ వొచ్చి అరిచి శవాన్ని కిందకి దింపుతాడు. తర్వాత ఇద్దరు వెళ్లి విలన్ ని చంపేస్తారు అనుకుంటే...ముందు తమ్ముడు వెళ్లి విలన్ చేతిలో తన్నులు తిని వచ్చి ...జమీందారు శవ యాత్ర లో డాన్స్ చేస్తూ ఉంటాడు....ఆ తర్వాత విశాల్ వెళ్లి విలన్ పని పడతాడు.

విశాల్ నటన చూసి మనం భయపడకూడదని...విశాల్ ని ఎప్పుడు ఒక చెత్త మేకప్ లోనే చూపిస్తారు....కాని మూవీ లో అరుపులు చూసి నేను భయపడ్డా ... మూవీ నిండా అరుపులు, కుళ్ళు జోకులు ( కొన్ని జోక్స్ నిజంగానే బాగున్నాయ్ ) , తీన్ మార్ డాన్స్ తప్ప ఇంకేం అనిపియ్యలేదు..... శివ పుత్రుడు చాలా బెటర్ అనిపించింది .

ఉలికిపిట్ట ఎటు వెళ్లినట్టు ?

నా fav blog ఉలికిపిట్ట http://ulikipitta.wordpress.com/ కనిపియడం లేదు..... ఆ బ్లాగరు buzz లో కూడా కనిపియడం లేదు . ఉలికిపిట్ట కొత్త address కి move అయిందా ? లేక మొత్తానికే తీసేసారా ? ఎవరికిన సమాచారం తెలిస్తే చెప్పగలరు !

And what about political cartels?

The democracy or market liberalism works on similar principle. I.e. people must have more to choose from for their own good. Business men all over  world use the cartel system for their own profit. And this cartel formation is now illegal in many counties. My question is about political cartels which are famously known as "seat sharing adjustments"

The less options we have the more trouble we are going have. The more options we have more benefits for us. For example take the case of cell phone network providers. When tata docomo entered the market with cheaper call costs, rest of the network providers are forced to lower their and offer more services to stop their customer base from going to docomo. Similar situation happened when times of india reduced their newspaper cost few years back. The ultimate beneficiary in these situations is the ordinary customer. We can't expect the local cable guy to lower his charges. He won't , because he does not have any other competitor as alternative.

Its similar situation in case of "political seat sharing" too. Constituencies were assigned to political parties. They share them like the old villains in the crime movies ..." You don't interfere in my area ...I won't interfere in yours"

If seats were not shared every party would try to impress the citizens for their votes. If seats are shared, the party which got the constituency need not care much about the citizens opinion because they don't have much options to choose from. And party which didn't get the constituency won't care because its party symbol won't be on EVMs used in that constituency !!

Horse trading in politics is not new. To curb this we have anti -defection laws which prevent the horse trying among the members of parliament and legislative assemblies to become ministers, but what about the similar trades among the contestants to become our legislators??

Should we make laws to banish seat-sharing? Or should have an option " None of the above " on the EVMs?

ఎం చేస్తం ? ఖండిస్తం !

చాలా కాలం పాటు నేను అనుకున్నది ఏంటంటే ...కవిత అనేది మనిషిలో ఉందొ భావ వ్యక్తీకరణలో ఒక రకం అని. కొంత మంది ఫోటోలు తీస్తారు, కొంతమంది అలా చూసి ఆనందిన్స్తారు ...కాని కవి మటుకు భావ వ్యక్తీకరణకి పదాలు వాడుకుంటాడు అనుకున్నా..

 కాని చాలా మందికి అసలు భావుకత లేదని , అందరిలో ఒక కవిగా పేరు కోసం ...యమలీలలో తోటరాముడిలా కవిత భావం తో సంబంధం లేకుండా ప్రాస కోసం పదాలు వాడుకుంటూ ఒక బ్యాచ్ ఉంటారని. పోనీ తోటరాముడి కవితలు , చంటబ్బాయ్ లో శ్రీ లక్ష్మి కవితలు కనీసం నవ్వన్నా తెప్పించాయి ...వీళ్ళవి చిరాకు తెప్పిస్తాయి ... అర్థం కాని బండ పదాలు వాడేస్తూ ... అమ్మాయిలని మందారం , మకరందం , మల్లెపూవు అని రాసేసి ....భావుకతతో ఉండడం అంటే భారతీయ సంస్కృతీ సాంప్రదాయాలని గౌరవించడం అనుకుని ...అసలు అమ్మాయంటే పెద్ద వాలు జడతో, లంగా వోని  వేసుకుని , ఒక మేక పిల్లని చంకలో వేసుకుని పొలం గట్ల మీద టింగు టింగు అని గెంతుతూ ఉండాలని .... అదేమీ ఆనందమో నాకర్థం కాదు .. 

ఇక  ఆ కవితలలో పదాలు చూస్తె ఇంకా చిరాకేస్తుంది ...ఆనందం, ప్రేమామృతం, అధరం , హృదయవేదన, వేచి చూస్తున్న కనులు, గుండె లోతులు, కన్నుల్లో/గుండెలో వేదన ,  రోదన, కంటి పాప , చిరు దీపం , మధురం,  కన్నుల్లో/జీవితం లో  వెలుగు/చీకటి నింపడం, స్నేహం, ప్రేమ , స్నేహ హస్తం, ఆశ , చిరునామా   .. ఇలా ఇంకొన్ని standard words ఉన్నాయి .. కవితలో ఈ పదాలు తప్ప ఇంకేం కనిపియ్యవు ... సిటీ లో పుట్టి పెరిగిన వాడు కూడా కవిత రాయాల్సి వచ్చేసరికి పొలం గట్లు, గోదావరి గట్టు , ఆ గట్టు పక్కన చెట్టు అంటాడు ..నిజానికి ఇవి వాడేప్పుడు చూసి ఉండదు ...చిన్నప్పటినుంచి చదివిన కవితల ప్రభావం వల్ల ....ఇలా గట్టులు, పుట్టలు రాస్తే తప్ప ప్రజలకి నచ్చదు అని fix అయిపోయుంటాడు . ఒక అభినవ కవి రామాయణం మీద కవిత లో ఇలా రాసాడు "సీతని విలపించి వలపించిన రాముడు" ... అసలు ఆ లైన్ చాలా చిరాగ్గా అనిపించింది... రాముడు ఏమి నాకు పెళ్ళాం కావాలి కావాలి అని ఏడిచి సీతని పెళ్లి చేసుకుని ...అమ్మయ్య ఎవరో ఒకరు నన్ను పెళ్లి చేసుకున్నారు చాల్లే అని సీతని ప్రేమించలేదు కదా ... సీతని స్వయంవరం లో గెలుచుకుని ...పెళ్లి చేసుకుని ...ప్రేమించి ...రావణుడు ఎత్తుకుపోయాక తన వియోగం భరించలేక విలపించాడు ( అంటే రాముడు నిజంగా ఎడి చాడా  లేదా అని తెలియదు కానీ...కవి అలా అనుకున్నాడు) . ఇక్కడ సమస్య విలపించడంకి వలపించడం కి తేడ తెలీకుండా .....అలా రాసేసి వినిపించేసాడు మాకు. ఇలా అర్థం తెలీకుండా పదాలు అడ్డ దిడ్డంగా వాడితే ...నాకు గాయం మూవీ లో కోట గుర్తొస్తాడు ... ఎం చేస్తం ? ఖండిస్తం!

ఇక ఇంకో కవి అయితే ... ఎవర్నో పొగడడం లో  "ఆయన స్వరం భాస్వరం" అన్నాడు ప్రాస కోసం  ....

అటు ఇటుగా ఈ అభినవ కవులంతా కలిసి అసలు ఆనందం , సంతోషం ఆప్యాయత లాంటివి పల్లెటూర్లో మాత్రమే ఉంటాయి , సిటీ లో కాలుష్యం తప్ప ఏమి ఉండదు , అసలు సిటీ లో ఉండటం వల్ల మనం ఏదో కోల్పోయిన ఫీలింగ్ తీసుకొస్తారు ...మళ్ళి వేల్లంతా సిటీ లో వాళ్ళే .. 

భావ వ్యక్తీకరణ మామూలు భాషలో ఉంటె తప్పా ? సిరివెన్నల మూవీ వల్ల సీతారామశాస్త్రి కి మంచి పేరు వచ్చింది...కాని కొంతమందికి తప్ప ఆ విరంచి, విపంచి , విరచించడం అంటే ఏంటో  అర్థం కాదు , ....అసలు పదమే అర్థం కానప్పుడు ఇంక పాట ఏమి ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తారు, ఏదో తమిళ పాటలు విన్నట్టే ఉంటుంది ...అదే మనీ లోని భద్రం బి కేర్ ఫుల్ బ్రోదరు కాని, చక్రవర్తికి వీధి బిచ్చగత్తెకీ ..పాటలు ఎంత బాగున్నాయి, వింటే అర్థం అవుతాయి...దాన్లో సీతారామశాస్త్రి చెప్పదలచుకున్న భావం కూడాఅర్థం అవుతుంది.

ఒకసారి ఈ కవిత చూడండి ...నాకు బాగా నచ్చింది ...

అంకోపరి  ( laptop) మోస్తూ నా నీకోసం వొడి ....కాని చాలా కాలం అయింది నువ్వు అంతర్జాలం లో కనబడి ..

ఓ మందారం .... నీకోసం ఆర్కుట్ లో వెతికా ప్రతి దారం(thread ) ..

ఇలా  రాస్తే మటుకు భలే నచ్చుతాయి ప్రజలకి (అంటే  ఈ చెత్త ప్రాస ని తగ్గించి ....ఈ కవితని ఇంకొంచం బండ పదాలతో  నింపి వేస్తె  అప్పుడు   )

Why our constitution is that big?

There have been many comments , satires on the size and number of amendments of our Constitution. But once we really try to understand it, its not a scary tome at all. When i started reading it , i thought "constitution assembly" (which is responsible for our constitution) deliberately tried to make it big...probably for world record?

The purpose of the constitution is to frame set of rules within which the govt should work. Like election of govt, the duties of govt ,citizenship, guidelines for making policies, about the goals of the govt and about the powers it can possess.

But our Indian constitution, which bulkiest of all the constitutions in the world has more than 395 articles. Some of the articles are repealed but we didnot bother to update the serial numbers. Like articles 79 to 91 were repealed but serials numbers of articles are not updated making it look big. They have not changed probably for administrative reasons. Some of the articles seems to be pointless , like article 393, according to which this constistuion "may be" called constitution of india. Cant we just print "constitution of india" on the book instead having an extra article in it?

One more article which i found funny is article 36 which is in part 4 of constitution. This articles says "The definition of state is same as mentioned in article 12 for part 4". Of course i agree that article 12 is in part 3 not in 4. But cant it say  this definition of state is also applicable for part 4 ?? Instead having another article for the same reason?

 And there are few "there shall be" articles. Those articles just say something like, there shall be a president or there shall be a parliament.

Constitutional assembly  was full of lawyers and even got the name "lawyers paradise". And those lawyers made sure that every minute detail related to india is mention in the constitution. Right from the salary details of president etc etc to the language that should be used in the parliament.

This inclusion of every detail in the constitution lead to more number of amendments to it.  For example 60th amendment is related to the maximum value of professional tax which can be charged. Every decade the reservation for SC/ST is increased by 10 years. And these increments in reservation period can be seen as many amendments.  Addition of new language as national language is also considered as an amendment. Even the increase in salary of supreme court judge is also an amendment ( fortunately in the same amendment they have freed the salary of judges from constitution) 


These are the few things i observed which made our constitution look gigantic. Even without these things, its big ...for all the right reasons. Our constitution makers tried to  make sure of everything. Probably that was one of the reasons our constitution has not failed us so far. Of course it has got its own faults...but few amendments really tried to make it perfect. Like 44th amendment. To save her prime minister seat Indira Gandhi exploited the loop holes in constitution and declared emergency showing JP agitations as  "internal disturbance" . And the emergency period is legendary in Post-independence indian history. To patch up the loop hole the "internal disturbance"  was replaced with "Armed rebellion".

I believe constitution should be the set of rules which control who ever controls the nation. Its book of rules which should not be taken easily. The constitution is the weapon which is used by legislature, executive and judiciary against each other so that none of them can have the absolute power to create laws.By and large our constitution is good at that.

Many people usually think our constitution is that big because we copied a lot from other constituencies. According to me that assumption is baseless. We have copied the ideologies regarding few topics from others but its our own thing which fits Indian political system. Just big nation....big constitution.
